Texting fools

Really? This is what $25,000 is worth today? I'm obviously out of touch with the world and don't have a clue what skills are classified as important in today's world.

A girl won $25,000 today because she was the fastest person to TEXT a phrase in a competition put on by LG. Her phrase: "Of course you can say it backwards, which is Suoicodilaipxecitsiligarfilacrepus!" (Apparently Mary Poppins said this in her movie.)

Don't get me wrong--I couldn't text that if I had a whole afternoon. I'm lucky if I can text someone to call me.

But $25,000? Really? What lesson does this teach the young ones? If you can text really fast, someday you too will be rich? You might not be able to spell real words, but as long as you're fast, it doesn't matter?

I just don't get it. I'll be over here listening to my record player scratch out some Jackson 5 hits.
