Hidden MJ treasures

So last night as I'm making supper, I'm watching Global news. One story highlights the disappearance of Michael Jackson products from store shelves due to a sudden popularity. It's also mentioned that MJ items are now skyrocketing in price.

Suddenly I remember that I have a box of cassettes in the closet upstairs. Might there be one of Michael's?

Sure enough. I discover Thriller and Dangerous sitting there with all my other 80s and 90s cassettes (see photo at left). Over the years I've been "encouraged" by my wife to downsize some of my "memories", which is valid and helpful. I can get attached to a stick, for heaven's sake. But some things I made a point of keeping.

It's not an outstanding collection, truth be told. I wasn't a music machine. Other cassettes in the box: Madonna's True Blue, U2's Joshua Tree, Police's Every Breath You Take (The Singles), Roxette's Look Sharp, Top Gun soundtrack, Duran Duran's self-titled '93 album, a number of Christian cassettes from Amy Grant, Michael W Smith, Stryper's In God We Trust, and a rare Crumbacher-Duke cassette that no one's ever heard of but me.

I visited eBay to see if there's any action on MJ cassettes. Not much money to be had, it looks like. Which is fine. I wasn't intending on selling them anyway.

The real trouble is that I have no machine to play them. Guess now I'll have to find me a cheap cassette player if I want to do any moonwalking.
